Please keep handheld charged when you have one! Keep it plugged in while you are not working.

Palm Treo
September 22, 2008
Students will take a picture with the Treo and upload it here. Uses Palm operating system. This battery really goes down fast, so keep it charged when not using it.

Dell Axim
September 22, 2008
Uses Windows Mobile operating system, so much more like a pc! It has a funky keyboard that relies on a "reflector" to pick up the infrared from the keyboard.

Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.5 (in CH 1900)
September 22, 2008
Remember to make an archive of your profile in case the pc on which you are working has maintenance done and your speech profile is deleted.

You should also change the settings so that the file size of your profile is reduced (2 handouts you have). You must complete the two audio checks each time DNS is opened. To do that, go to:

1. Tools Menu in the Dragonbar
2. Accuracy Center
3. Complete the two audio checks. It is advised your complete these as the room noise changes or your voice changes.

Tips on "Select" and "That"
1. There are several tricks. One is to say Select "will select" or another word with the one you want. Ex. "Select that will" and then speak over it.
2. Another one is to say "Insert before select" then say "Select next word." You can do the same thing with the word "that." Or, say "insert after select" and then "Select previous word."
3. I think you should be able to say "Select select."
4. works for the word "all" too.

Tablet PC Work
September 21, 2008
Make sure you log in to your Northwest account BEFORE you leave campus to work on the Tablet PC. Keep it charged through the night and during the day so when you want to work remotely, you have enough battery power to do that! There are also two files you need from Doc Sharing of our course web page--so if you won't have Internet access when you plan to work on the Tablet, download these!
